It never occurred to me to share the entire experience of study abroad (that is until I read my friend Ashlee's blog, so I suppose there is a little plagiarism mixed in this post). At this point I think I can accurately sum up study abroad in three words; stress, anxiety, and paperwork, oh and money or lack thereof. Most of you have no idea how much work goes into planning a semester abroad. I can tell you first hand that the WMU Study Abroad Office grossly underestimates what a huge and daunting process this is. Not to mention the 4 summer classes I've had to take during summer 1 to make up for the semester I am missing (don't do that. no really, just don't).
I'm starting to get my ducks in a row, I actually know where I'll be living! It's called Gort na Coiribe (if anyone has any idea on how to pronounce that I'm all ears). Check out the kitchen! While you're at it, look at my school. I wasn't aware that I would be attending Hogwarts.
I'm under no disillusions that these pictures are probably a less than accurate representation of my actual apartment, but a girl can dream!
I wonder if I'll have any trouble finding potions?
I'll admit that I'm nervous, I'll admit that I'm even a little scared, and believe me I still have plenty to do. I have trips to plan, budgets to make, plane tickets to purchase, and painful goodbyes still need to be said. However, I can honestly say that I have never been so excited for an opportunity and I look forward to the change and growth study abroad will bring.
